About us

Among the many circus disciplines, it is Mongolian contortion—categorized under balance acts—that has most prominently introduced Mongolian circus art to the world. Our artists have transformed contortion from a mere demonstration of physical flexibility into a refined art form, rich in meaning and elevated by sophisticated techniques. This is Mongolia’s unique and invaluable contribution to the global circus stage.

Mongolian contortion has redefined traditional poses and movements by blending ancient forms with modern technical innovation. Through this, our performances have achieved a level of classical artistry and aesthetic beauty that has firmly established the term “Mongolian Contortion” as a respected and recognized identity in the world of circus.

The legacy of Mongolian contortion lies in:

  • Developing a structured and pedagogical training method;
  • Maintaining extreme flexibility through long-term, progressive stretching routines;
  • Enhancing strength and endurance for advanced trick execution;
  • Enriching each performance with artistic expression and national aesthetics, creating a unique visual and emotional impact.

Mongolian contortionists have not only showcased their art worldwide—they have taught and trained new generations of artists, developed diverse stretching methods, and created flexibility programs accessible to people of all ages.

In the early 1990s, Mongolian contortion masters living and working in the U.S. and Europe began adapting their foundational warm-up exercises into accessible body-conditioning programs. These exercises, which promote joint mobility and long-term flexibility, have gained popularity among individuals of all backgrounds, beyond circus professionals.

As a result, Mongolian-style flexibility training and contortion techniques have become sought-after globally—not just among young aspiring artists, but also among adults interested in movement, health, and creative physical expression.

To expand this interest, we began introducing and promoting Mongolia’s unique approach to contortion and flexibility training as a global movement. Our aim is to inspire artists, students, and enthusiasts from all over the world to connect, learn, and exchange knowledge. In 2023, we hosted the first SUPPLE: Mongolian Contortion Convention in Las Vegas, USA, followed by the second in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia in 2024. Together, these gatherings welcomed over 1,000 participants—teachers, students, and contortion enthusiasts from around the world.

The third SUPPLE: Mongolian Contortion Convention will take place on October 3–5, 2025, at Juventas Circus School in Minnesota, USA.

With more than 30 years of experience, Juventas is a respected institution dedicated to professional circus training. It also runs seasonal shows and youth-centered cultural events, serving over 1,000 students annually. Today, it is recognized as a trusted training ground for future Cirque du Soleil artists.

Renowned Mongolian acrobat and coach Erdenechimeg Khaltarkhuu has taught at Juventas for over 20 years, specializing in various circus disciplines including contortion. Her students have actively participated in our conventions with great success.

The upcoming two-day convention will include progressive training sessions, teacher workshops, and a spectacular gala show featuring top studios and artists. It will be a vibrant space for mutual learning, professional exchange, and artistic inspiration.

Contortion is not just about the body—it is a poetic and philosophical art that touches the imagination and soul. It reveals beauty through risk, discipline, and cultural expression. It pushes the limits of human potential and reflects the harmony between strength, grace, and endurance.

We believe that SUPPLE will leave you with unforgettable memories and a deeper appreciation of this extraordinary art form.

As we look to the future, our vision is to expand the “UYAN” Mongolian Contortion Convention into a truly international platform—not only for professional artists, but also for scholars, educators, cultural policymakers, entrepreneurs, and advocates who recognize the artistic, physical, and cultural value of contortion.

We are committed to fostering interdisciplinary exchange, collaborative exploration, and global dialogue around the art of contortion, and to building bridges between performance, education, and research.

We warmly invite you to experience the transformative spirit of the “UYAN” Convention and to join us in deepening the appreciation, understanding, and development of this extraordinary art form across borders and generations.

Team MCC.
